Philosophy

At DCCNS we like to have fun, non-intrusive fundraising activities spread out over the school year. We all give so much throughout the year in terms of time, energy, love, ideas, money, and more!  Each of us participates in different ways at different times yet we all contribute to helping make DCCNS the wonderful place for our children.  Fundraising is another way to support our school.

Fundraising serves the mission and purpose of DCCNS.  Strengthening our financial position helps to ensure that we can continue to meet our ongoing needs and goals.  The fundraising team has two high level goals for the coming year.  Our first goal is to raise money for the school.  Our second goal is to reach our first goal as easily and painlessly as possible.  We emphasize the fun in fundraising!

Our Fundraising Events

Scrip: This year we will focus our efforts on two scrip partners, Nugget and e-scrip.  To participate in the Nugget scrip program, register a Nugget card with the DCCNS Script Coordinator, load the card with prepayments, and shop at Nugget.   With e-scrip, go to http://www.escrip.com and register merchant cards like your Safeway rewards card, shop at Safeway, and use your card.  In both cases, DCCNS gets a percentage of your purchases.  We think scrip is a great idea because it’s easy and it doesn’t cost you anything extra!  You will hear more about Scrip at the Parent Orientation.

Spaghetti Fest: Bring your family to the Spaghetti Fest on Monday October 22nd, 2007.  This casual dinner event is a fantastic way to meet other DCCNS families.  Our children get to play together while everyone enjoys a delicious dinner.  The food is donated by Davis restaurants and prepared by your fellow DCCNS parents. Your cash donation for dinner is your contribution.

The Rummage Sale: This is the largest fundraising event of the year and will take place on April 26th, 2008.  Families typically scour their basements, attics, and garages to donate an impressive array of high quality merchandise. Can anyone say Turkish Bazaar?  Last year enthusiastic buyers gobbled up bargains right up to the end! Every DCCNS family contributes a work shift.

Quilt Auction: Back by popular demand is the Silent Quilt Auction. This year’s event will be held on May 10th, 2008. It’s a fun event and the quilts are gorgeous. Encourage your families and friends who are quilters to donate and participate.

Other Events: Throughout the year, look for announcements of other events, like ice cream night and a family pizza night. Details will be communicated as the year goes on.
